796 耶律仁先，是大辽燕王、南府宰相耶律瑰引之子，是史有确载的契丹皇族。 Historically, Yelyu Renxian was a member of the Khitan royalty. His father was Yelyu Guiyin, the Prince of Yan and Prime Minister of nanfu (the Southern Prefecture, Department of State Affairs in ancient China) in the Liao Dynasty.
797 他一生曾六次命将、五次封王，其墓志刻有“大辽国尚父于越宋王”字样。 During his lifetime, Yelyu Renxian was appointed as a general six times and conferred the title of prince five times. “Liao’s most honourable mandarin, yuyue, Prince of Song” was inscribed in his epigraph.
798 在辽代，于越封号“非大功德者不授”，足见其地位之显赫。 In the Liao Dynasty, the title yuyue was only conferred to those of remarkable achievements, merits and virtues, which reflected Yelyu Renxian’s high status.
799 耶律仁先是杰出的外交家，曾受辽兴宗之命出使北宋。 Yelyu Renxian was an outstanding diplomat. He was appointed as an envoy to the Northern Song Dynasty by Emperor Xingzong of Liao.
800 他也是著名的军事家，曾出任大辽西北路招讨使，平灭叛乱，捍卫了北部边境的秩序与安宁。 He was also a renowned strategist. Once he was appointed as zhaotaoshi, the governor in charge of offering amnesty to, enlisting and suppressing rebels, in the Northwest Circuit of Liao. He put down rebellions and restored peace and order on the northern border.
801 耶律仁先忠贞为国、义字为先，备受军民敬仰。 Yelyu Renxian was loyal to his country and righteous in his conduct, which earned him much respect from the army and the people.
802 《辽史》记载，耶律仁先出任北院大王尚在赴任路上，百姓闻讯便奔走数百里前往欢迎。 According to History of Liao, when he was on his way to his post as Prince of the Northern Prefecture, people ran hundreds of miles to welcome him upon hearing the news.
803 耶律仁先曾挫败耶律重元叛乱，救驾辽道宗， Yelyu Renxian once suppressed Yelyu Chongyuan’s revolt and saved Emperor Daozong of Liao.
